Reading Inspiration: St. Patrick's Day Books

I love children's books and have a slight addiction to them. Reading books about a holiday can help children enjoy the day more. The pictures and stories bring the traditions to life. Here are some fun St. Patrick's day books for your family.

St. Patrick's Day Countdown is a good choice for babies and toddlers. It's a board book so no ripped pages. The book counts down from 5-1 using St. Patrick's day symbols. ages 0-3

What Makes a Rainbow?: A Magic Ribbon Book
What Makes a Rainbow?: A Magic Ribbon Book is not specifically St. Patrick's day book. It's a good one to buy if you want to read the book year round. My toddler has loved this book since he was a baby. As you turn each page a new color of ribbon is "magically" added to the rainbow. ages 4-8 (Although my baby does enjoy this book)

The Night Before St. Patrick's Day is a good story for preschoolers and kindergartners about catching a leprechaun. It would be a wonderful book to read before you make these.  ages 4-8

St. Patrick's Day is a great book to explain the history, symbols and traditions of St. Patrick's Day. ages 5-8

Fiona's Luck
Fiona's Luck is a good pick for older kids. It's the story of a smart girl who outwits the leprechaun king to take back all of the stolen luck in order to help Ireland. ages 4-8

I have not read these next selections but they looked promising.  You can read reviews for many of the books at The Reading Bug Blog.
